

Wild Turkey. (Meleagris gallopavo).
This wary species is a weak flyer; it runs to avoid danger and feeds on the ground on acorns, nuts, seeds, fruits and insects. It roosts in trees.
The Wild Turkey is a resident locally from Arizona to New England, south to Florida and southern Mexico. Reintroduced in much of its former range; introduced elsewhere.
