1996 Texas Turkey - Ken Carlson - Stamp Print

Wild Turkey. (Meleagris gallopavo).

"Stepping into the soft early morning light, the gobblers are the color orf richly bgurnished copper. From the chests of mature birds sprout coarse beards, worn like medals of honor.

Rio Grande turkeys are tall and lean, generating an alert aura of wildness. They could never be mistaken for domestic turkeys. A big gobbler weighs over 20 pounds."
