1986 Vermont Migratory Waterfowl - Jim Killen - Stamp Print

A trio of Wood Ducks slicing through Vermont's autumn landscape appears on the official 1986 "First of State" Vermont Migratory Waterfowl stamp print. This winning design by nationally-known artist Jim Killen was chosen in a competition held by the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife.

In 1986 the Vermont Legislature enacted a law creating the state's first official waterfowl stamp. The legislation requires that waterfowl hunters possess the stamp.

Revenues raised through sales of the 1986 "First of State" Vermont waterfowl stamp, art print and medallion will be used to enchance Vermont's waterfowl resources. Such enhancement would include purchase of wetlands, construction of impoundments and potholes, water level manipulation, wetland farming, installation of nesting structures and other techniques.
