SHIPMENT NOT EXPECTED UNTIL FALL 2006
Ever alert, a covey of bobwhite quail emerges from prairie grass. Bobwhites are considered by many to be the ultimate North American game bird. Texas has more quail and more quail hunters than any state. The birds flourish in two distinct ecological regions—the Rolling Plains of north and west Texas and the South Texas Plains.
Jim Hautman is a Minnesota wildlife artist whose accomplishments include three Federal Duck Stamps. Hautman is well-known to Texas conservation art collectors. He painted two Texas Duck Stamps, the 1998 Texas Turkey Stamp and the 1999 Texas Nongame Stamp.
The Texas Upland Game Bird Stamp helps to fund research and conservation of quail, turkeys, pheasant, chachalacas and lesser prairie chickens. The edition will be limited to the number of wholesale orders received by August 15, 2006, but in no event will the edition be less than 1,050. Shipment of prints is expected by the fall of 2006. A special Conservation Edition will be made available to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. There will be 100 Artist’s Proofs.
