"Coldwater Series II" (of four) Etchings.
Jack Cowin is undoubtedly one of North America's finest angler artists. Born in Indianapolis, he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in print making from Indiana University and his Master's in painting and print making from the University of Illinois.
Cowin's pre-med studies as well as his work as a medical illlustrator also manifest themselves in his methodically detailed paintings and prints.
When producing an original print, Cowin prepares the metal printing plate and "pulls" the prints himself (usually 50, but as few as 25 in recent years). Cowin then colors, signs and numbers each individual print. The plate is then destroyed so that the edition remains limited to the original number.
Today, Jack Cowin makes his home in the Canadian province of Regina. Winner of the countless awards and honors, his work has appeared in numerous shows, publications and galleries throughout the US and Canada.
