Kreg Harrison was reared at the base of the majestic Mount Timpanogos in northern Utah. His surroundings furnished him with an abundant supply of fishing, hunting and outdoor experiences which provide the basis of his art today.
After completing his BA of Fine Arts degree at Utah State University, he met world renowned Cowboy and Western Sculptor Grant Speed. Speed has become a close friend as well as a confidant and mentor for Harrison. The artist has also studied with George Carlson.
Whenever physically possible the artist prefers working from live models. The "traditional" approach to sculpture taught by the masters of the 18th and 19th century has become his method. Sculptors such as Barye, Bugatti and Troubetzkoy have had a powerful influence on Harrison as well as the painters Munnings, Sangent and Rousseau.
Harrison's focus has always been on pleasing the collector who shares a common interest in sporting and fine art.
