Red Drum

2006 Texas Saltwater Stamp Print - John Dearman

A bronze-hued red drum eyes a hapless crab that’s strayed too far from rocky cover. The red drum, more commonly known as redfish, is a favorite with Texas anglers who cherish the fish’s avaricious nature, plus the power and tenacity with which it fights. The redfish is true conservation success. Once threatened by commercial fishing, redfish today are more plentiful than at any time in the modern sport fishing era. The Texas Saltwater Stamp and Print has raised about $90 million to fund innovative coastal hatcheries and increase game warden patrols throughout coastal waters. John Dearman is a Texas native who specializes in sporting art of the Lone Star State. He also painted the 1990 Texas Saltwater Stamp Print art and the 1991 First Texas Turkey Stamp Print art. The edition will be limited to the number of wholesale orders received by August 15, 2006, but in no event will the edition be less than 2,100. Shipment of prints is expected by late summer of 2005. A special conservation Edition will be made available to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. There will be 100 Artist’s Proofs.
