A resident of North Texas his entire life, Wyman was reared on a ranch in Knox county near Benjamin, Texas.
His first photos were published in "National Wildlife" and "Texas Parks and Wildlife" magazines in 1979. Since then his work has appeared in over 55 magazines worldwide and has graced over 170 magazine and book covers.
His articles on outdoor recreation have appeared in various publications throughout the US including "Texas Parks and Wildlife", "Sports Afield," "Field & Stream," "American Hunter," and others.
In 1985 he was highlighted by "Sports Afield" as one of five top outdoor photographers in America.
Meinzer, official photographer of the state of Texas, won the 1996 John Ben Sheppard Jr. Award from the Texas State Historical Foundation for his contributions to the preservation of Texas history through writing and photography. He has published more than fourteen books, including Desert Sanctuaries: The Chinatis of the Big Bend, and Canyons of the Texas High Plains.
